A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for Wayne County until 1 a.m. following a series of storms across Metro Detroit and surrounding areas. The weather system brought high winds, including 70 mph gusts in Howell, and hail up to two inches in some locations. DTE Energy reported nearly 50,000 power outages as storms coincided with extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 96 degrees. Additionally, a flood warning is active until 5:30 a.m. Thursday for parts of Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties due to expected heavy rainfall. The National Weather Service advised residents to seek shelter in basements or interior rooms. Warnings for Oakland, Washtenaw, Livingston, and Macomb counties expired late Wednesday night.
