Tours require standing and walking. The length of each tour is noted in their individual descriptions. Space is limited and preregistration is required. Participants will need to secure their own transportation to the tour site. Maps and information about where to meet will be sent out via email prior to the tour. September 21: The Weston Hall Project This 101-year-old apartment building was recently redeveloped into a 47-unit affordable housing community, preserving the historic nature of the building while developing the skilled trades in Detroit. Ed Fowler of Detroit Landmark Development will discuss how they brought the vacant building back to life. October 19: The Davenport-Curtiss House EMU's Preservation Studies Program is working with the City of Saline to inventory and explore possible uses for this extraordinary ca. 1877 home. EMU Graduate Student Amber Lubbers will walk us through the history of the home and this fascinating project. November 23: Livonia's Historic Preservation Explore the early efforts to acquire and protect significant buildings, the creation of Livonia’s local historic districts, and the development of Greenmead Historical Park. Emily Tchorz-Fielder, Livonia Program Supervisor, will highlight the city’s journey from its rural beginnings to its ongoing commitment to historic preservation.
